How to Apply

The MSc Epidemiology program is administered under the rules and regulations of the School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (SGSPA).

Incoming MSc Epidemiology students enter the program with a confirmed supervisor. Applicants interested in applying to the MSc Epidemiology program are required to contact potential supervisors before submitting their application. Applicants can consult the Department’s Faculty Profiles and reach out to members with whom they share research interests.

During the application review process, successful applicants will be matched with a supervisor who indicates a willingness to guide the student through the entire program, including coursework selection and their thesis research.

Supporting Documents

MSc Epidemiology applicants must submit the following supporting documents as part of their application package:

Letters of Recommendation: The School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (SGSPA) requires two academic (from a faculty member who taught you) letters of recommendation. If you have been out of university for more than 5 years, one or more professional recommendations may be included.
Statement of Interest: A description of the applicant's previous research experiences and accomplishments, including the motivations to enter the MSc Epidemiology program. The statement of interest must be included in the online application form.
Resume/CV: An overview of the applicant's experience and other qualifications, including employment, academic credentials, publications, contributions, and significant achievements must be included in the online application form.
Transcripts: A record of study is required from each university-level institution attended. Applicants can upload a copy of their transcript in the application portal. If the transcript does not indicate whether the degree has been awarded/conferred, a copy of the degree certificate will also need to be uploaded. Applicants who receive an offer of admission are responsible for making arrangements for an official copy of each transcript to be sent to the School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (SGSPA).
Proof of English Language Proficiency (if required): Applicants whose native languages do not include English will need to earn satisfactory standing in an English Language Proficiency Test as part of the application process, and before final acceptance is granted. Additional Testing (if required): The GRE is a mandatory requirement for applicants with degrees from non-Canadian universities, and a minimum score of 149 is required on the quantitative section. There are no exceptions to this rule. The GRE institution code and department code is 0949 and 0606, respectively.
