Dr. Paul Villeneuve is a Professor and Queen's National Scholar in Cancer Epidemiology in the Department of Public Health Sciences and the Cara & Murray Sinclair Cancer Research Institute at Queen's University. Previously, Dr. Villeneuve was a Professor in the Department of Neuroscience and School of Mathematics and Statistics at Carleton University. He began his career as an epidemiologist in the Cancer Bureau at Health Canada and subsequently served as a Research Scientist there for approximately ten years.
Dr. Villeneuve received his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto, his MSc in Epidemiology from the University of Ottawa, and an undergraduate degree in Statistics from the University of Waterloo. His graduate research focused on childhood cancer survival and occupational exposure to electric and magnetic fields among Ontario Hydro workers, laying the foundation for his long-standing work in cancer epidemiology.
Research
Dr. Villeneuve's research program examines environmental and occupational determinants of cancer, with key contributions in air pollution and radiation health effects. He has published extensively in chronic disease epidemiology and leads collaborative research initiatives both in Canada and internationally, including projects in Colombia, Grenada, and the United States.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Villeneuve serves on expert advisory panels for the World Health Organization and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, contributing his expertise to national and international public health policy and risk assessment initiatives.
