CONTROVERSIES IN EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES OF AIR POLLUTION, COVID-19, AND HUMAN HEALTH
Presented by: Dr. Paul Villeneuve

Learning objectives - at the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:
- Discuss methodological challenges for conducting epidemiological studies of air pollution and COVID.
- Have some knowledge of how the COVID pandemic has impacted concentrations of ambient fine particulate matter air pollution in Canada and Grenada.
Dr. Paul Villeneuve is a Professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Carleton University, and holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Public Health Sciences at Queen’s University. Before that, he was a Senior Research Scientist at Health Canada. His research is focused on occupational and environmental epidemiology, and his current program includes research on the health impacts of air pollution, the urban built environments, and radiation health effects. Dr. Villeneuve received his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto. He was accredited as a Professional Statistician by the Statistical Society of Canada, and is currently on the Editorial Boards of Environmental Research, and the Canadian Journal of Public Health.

RACE, RACISM AND HEALTHCARE: TAKING ANOTHER LOOK

- Discuss the connections between both race/racism on healthcare experiences/outcomes.
- Consider approaches to explore these relationships in order to improve healthcare outcomes.
Dr. Mala Joneja is an Associate Professor and the Division Chair for the Division of Rheumatology at Queen’s University. Dr. Joneja is the Director, Diversity and Equity, School of Medicine Queen's University. She completed her MD degree at Queen's University and training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at Western University. She completed her Master of Education degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
